The 1st Birthday is coming soon!

December 10th will be Claire's 1st birthday... Sometimes I think that it isn't quite fair that I have only known her for 3 months and we are already celebrating her birthday. I sometimes morn the loss of not knowing her for the 8 months that she was in Ethiopia laying in an orphanage. Although it is very clear that when she was there she was loved and very well cared for. And then when I stop and think about having her for the rest of my life and the JOY and absolute unconditional love that Claire has brought into our family and all of the many birthdays to come I am so fill with gratitude and thanks.
Our journey to becoming a family has been one of the easiest things to happen in my life. As most of you know we started the process in the end of February and we had Claire in our arms on August 23rd. 6 months. It has also been a perfect transition as far as adjusting goes for all of us. Claire knows with out a doubt that Darin and I are mommy and daddy. And she also loves her aunts, uncles, grandpas, and grandmas. And they all love her!

Claire has her 1st birthday party tomorrow with her big cousin Hannah! Hannah turned 4 on December 3rd! And Grandma Judy had her birthday on the 4th! So tomorrow we are all going over to Delwyn and Kari's home to celebrate these wonderful girls in our family!

Claire is now taking a few steps! She will hang on to the coffee table and walk over to us! WOW it blows my mind again to think that when we got her, only a few months ago, that she could not even sit up be herself. Her 1st tooth broke though today... Poor girl.

Hi. My wife works with Stephaney Nay at York. She told us about your blog. We brought home our youngest son, Jeremiah, from Ethiopia this past May. He turns 1 on December 11th. It's always great to hear about other children from Ethiopia being adopted by families in this community.
